In the middle of the 18th Century some important Florentine families, among them the Guicciardini, Della Gherardesca, Pucci, Corsini and Bartolozzi, decided to come together in one workshop, placing in common the looms, cartoons, and designs they all had in their respective palaces. The Antico Setificio Fiorentino was established in 1786 to satisfy the needs of the noble founding families.
It is extraordinary to visit Antico Setificio Fiorentino today and be confronted by the large wooden looms designed by Leonardo da Vinci. These marvelous machines are still perfectly functioning today and turning out astonishing fabrics, as they have for centuries.
Francesco Fino is very pleased to offer his Renaissance Collection consisting of three unique pieces, available exclusively at the Atelier. This collection is made from the 18th century Royal silk called Ermesino and it is the beginning of a privileged cooperation with one of the rarest treasures of Italy.
